Have you ever had to waste a precious Saturday at a laundromat? If so, you will really appreciate that each unit in the Alterra apartment community features an in suite washer and dryer. Having this incredibly convenient amenity makes laundry day a less daunting task and frees up your time to knock out other chores around your apartment while you are washing a load of clothes.
Since we are advocates of green living at Alterra, we wanted to share some eco friendly laundry tips below courtesy of TLC:
- Instead of washing several small loads, try to consolidate your items into one wash if possible to conserve water and energy. Please note that it is never a good idea to overstuff your washing machine, so sometimes it will be necessary to run a few loads of laundry back-to-back.
- Choosing to wash your clothes in cold water will help use less energy. It also helps to minimize laundry errors as clothes generally don’t bleed in cold water.
- If you are washing several loads of laundry and utilizing your dryer, it’s a good idea to take advantage of the leftover heat from the dryer when throwing in another load. This helps save energy as the dryer does not have to heat all the way back up again.
