This week is going to be tasty as I let you in on which events around La Mesa will be the best to chow down! You’ll be supporting great community organizations and causes, unless you consider watching your waistline to be a cause worth fighting for. Let’s just call this week of the Alterra blog “Calories for a Cause” week. It’s catchy, somewhat controversial, and uses alliteration to get the point across. You might have to hit the fitness center for an extra half-hour to prepare, but I assure you these local fundraisers will be good to the last bite.
First on the menu will be the La Mesa Lion’s Club Annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser. Along with a spiced up dinner of everyone’s favorite Italian dish, the Lions Club will also be hosting an American Idol musical skit, holding a silent auction and giving out raffle prizes. It’s only $10 a person at the La Mesa Community Center on Thursday, May 12 from 5:30-8:30pm.
Still hungry for more? The second course is the Taste of La Mesa, bringing 28 of the cities top food vendors to the Community Center on Monday, May 12 from 5:30-8:30pm. Tickets are available in advanced for $30 or $40 at the door. This event is sure to sell out, so make sure you have reservations to the Taste of La Mesa!
I can tell you’re already busting at the seams with these tasty fundraisers, so stay tuned for the second part of “Calories for a Cause” later this week on the Alterra community blog!
