I have always been interested in the types of workouts that will come in handy one day. Working out like a football player doesn’t make much sense to me anymore, and spending hours in the gym getting bigger biceps sounds boring. Back when I was looking into the military as a career path, my Ranger friends told me about a workout program called “CrossFit.” They had told me about how it easily transitioned into their military service and their time just goofing around like regular civilians. The program is intense to say the least, but it gets the job done. It also takes away those boring gym workouts that have left many of us burned out on the whole exercise thing.
There are a couple of awesome things about CrossFit East County that make it a great option for Alterra residents. First of all, it’s hard to beat its location in La Mesa, and it’s proximity to the apartments. Second, the amount of time spent to burn calories like crazy, build muscle for strength and endurance, is cut down considerably. Most workouts last for about 45 minutes and they are rarely, if ever, the same. Check it out for yourself. They do offer free classes. Bring a friend if you would like, but you don’t have to. CrossFits all over the country are very similar in that they become like family, very quickly.
